Abstract :Objective: Medical students are in the high-risk group regarding exposure to infectious diseases during their education. This study aimed to evaluate the seroprevalence of hepatitis A, hepatitis B, measles, rubella, mumps, mumps, and varicella viruses among the vaccine-preventable infectious diseases in the fourth, fifth and sixth-grade students of the Faculty of Medicine of our university. Methods: The serologic tests performed for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, measles, rubella, mumps, mumps, and varicella in fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade students studying at the Faculty of Medicine in the 2024-2025 academic year were retrospectively analyzed. Student records were scanned retrospectively through the hospital information processing system, and HBsAg, Anti-HBs, Anti-HAV IgG, measles IgG, Rubella IgG, mumps IgG, and varicella IgG results performed between 01.10.2021-31.12.2024 were recorded. Data were analyzed with IBM SPSS for the Mac 26.0 program. (Armonk, NY: IBM Corp, USA) Results: The mean age of 317 students was 22.5 ± 1.5 years; 47.6% were female and 52.4% were male. HBsAg, anti-HCV, and anti-HIV tests were negative in all students. Anti-HBs positivity was 71%, anti-HAV IgG positivity was 44%, measles IgG positivity was 67%, rubella IgG positivity was 98%, mumps IgG positivity was 88%, and varicella IgG positivity was 95%. The presence of incomplete vaccinations in final-year students was striking. Conclusion: It is observed that the immunity levels of medical students against vaccine-preventable diseases are not at the desired level. Serologic screening of students before starting practical training and vaccinating those with deficient immunity is essential for protecting students and the patient population.
