Abstract :Ö Z E T Irving Howe bu makalesinde farklı edebi tür, yapıt ve yazarlara göndermelerde bulunarak Modernizm’in çıkışı, gelişmesi ve geleceğiyle ilgili düşüncelerini anlatır. Geleneksel ve modernist edebiyat arasında karakter ve olay örgüsü gibi farklara değinen Howe, modernist kültürün ve dolayısıyla modernist edebiyatın her şeyden şüphe etme, sürekli yenilenme ve öznellik nitelikleriyle göze çarptığına dikkat çeker. Hiççilik ve Varoluşçuluk ile paylaştığı ortak noktaları irdeler. Anahtar Kelimeler: Irving Howe, Modernizm, Hiççilik, Existentialism AB S T R AC T In his essay, Irving Howe relates his thoughts about the emergence, development and future of Modernism referring to various literary genres, works and writers. Telling about the differences like character and plot between the traditional and modernist literature, Howe draws attention to the fact that modernist culture and linked to this, modernist literature are significant by the features of doubt about everything, constant renewal and subjectivity.
