Abstract :Z E T Bu çalışmada sosyo-kültürel etkiler kapsamında, çok sayıda değişkenlerden etkilenerek okullarda ortaya çıkan şiddet tiplerinin altında yatan faktörler, şiddetin gerçekleştiği yerler, sebepleri ve etkilerinin Sosyal Bilgiler öğrencilerine yansımaları, özellikle öğrenenlerin eğitimiyle ilgili çözümler boyutundan Sosyal Bilgiler dersinin önemi tartışılmıştır. Araştırma survey metoduyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Erzurum Merkez; Yakutiye, Palandöken, Aziziye ilçelerinde 20 ilköğretim okulunda öğrenim gören 500 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Verilerin analizinde frekans ve yüzde dağılımı, aritmetik ortalama ve standart sapmadan yararlanılmıştır. Verilerde, bağımsız değişkenin iki düzeyli olduğu durumlarda t testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda Sosyal Bilgiler dersinin, öğrencilerin şiddete karşı tutumlarının yapılanmasında ve şiddet davranışlarının engellenmesinde önemli bir rolü olduğu görülmüştür. Anahtar Kelimeler: Şiddet, Sosyal Bilgiler, okul AB S T R AC T This article discusses the importance of the social studies course within the context of social and cultural influences and from the perspectives of the factors underlying the types of violence caused by a number of variables in the schools; the reflections of the areas, reasons and impacts of violence on social studies student; and, the solutions to the education of the learners. The research was done according to the survey model and at twenty schools in Erzurum city. The participants of the study were 500 students in 20 schools. The data were analysed with SPSS. The data analysis was done with the following: Frequency Analysis, Descriptive Statistics and Independent Samples T-Test. Qualitative data were analysed with frequency analysis. The results of the study showed that the social studies lesson has a remarkable effect on the structuring of students’ perception of violence. Keywords: Violence; social studies; school
