Abstract :Gelenek kavramının geniş bir kullanım alanı vardır. Gelenekçilik ya da geleneğin takibi ile ilgili tartışmalar, her konuda olduğu gibi, Türk edebi-yatında da devam etmektedir. Türk edebiyatındaki Batılılaşma süreci, geçmi-şi ve geleneği kendini konumlandırmada kullanmıştır. Bu arada, edebiyat ta-rihlerinde klasik şairlerle ilgili yapılan değerlendirmelerde hem geleneğin et-kisiyle şiir yazanlar hem de klasik edebiyatın bilhassa son dönemlerinde ge-leneğin içine yenilik katanlar zaman zaman eleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, klasik Türk şiiri çerçevesinde geleneğe bakış üzerine bir değerlendirme yapılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, Tokatlı Kâni’nin gazellerine ge-lenek üzerinden bir okuma yapıldıktan sonra, şairin gazellerindeki nasihat söylemine dikkat çekilmiştir. The concept of tradition has a wide range of uses. Discussions on tra-ditionalism or following tradition continue in Turkish literature as well as in every subject. The process of Westernization in Turkish literature used his-tory and tradition as a tool to position itself. At the same time, when we look at evaluation of classical poets in literary history, it is seen that both the poets who write poetry under the influence of tradition and the writers who added innovation into tradition in the last period of literature have been criticised from time to time. In this study, an evaluation was made on the point of view of tradition in the context of classical Turkish poetry. In this context, after a reading on the traditions of Tokat Kâni’s lyrics was made, attention was drawn to the discourse of advice in the lyric of the poet.
