Abstract :Şu anki bilgilere göre tıp tarihindeki en erken yazılı kayıtların bulunduğu Mezopotamya’da ele geçmiş çivi yazılı tabletler incelendiğinde, çağlar boyunca yaşanan teknolojik gelişimlere rağmen insanların hastalıklar hakkındaki düşüncelerinde köklü değişimler olmadığı görülmektedir. İnsanların hastalıkların sebeplerini hâlâ dini inançlarla ya da doğaüstü varlıklarla bağdaştırması, tıbbi uygulamalar konusunda onları, günümüzde bilimsel çevrelerce çağdışı olarak nitelendirilen bazı yöntem ve kişilere yönlendirmiştir. Bu çalışmada, Mezopotamya toplumlarından bilinen ve günümüzde Türkiye’nin kırsal kesimlerinde hâlâ uygulanan benzer tıbbi yöntemler ve bu yöntemlerin inançlarla bağlantıları, alınan örnekler doğrultusunda anlatılmaya çalışılacaktır.   According to current information, when the cuneiform tablets found in Mesopotamia, the earliest written records in the history of medicine, are examined, it is seen that there are no fundamental changes in people's thoughts about the diseases despite technological advances. The fact that people still associate the causes of illnesses with religious beliefs or supernatural beings has led them to some methods and people who are now regarded as outdated by the scientific community. In this study medical applications known from Ancient Mesopotamia will be compared with similar applications still in use in rural areas of modern Turkey.
