Abstract :117 cases of empyema were analyzed within the period from September 1978 to September 1985 at the Deparment of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery of Ondokuzmayıs University Medical Faculty. Etiologic factors, methods of treatment and results were discussed and literature was rewiwed.
