Abstract :SUMMARY THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPHYLACTIC IRON ADMINISTRATION IN PREGNANCY This prospective study was made on 32 pregnant women, who were found to be non-anemic according to the hematologic parameters measured between the 28-32nd weeks of the pregnancy. Iron therapy was given to 16 pregnant women, who were chosen as experiment group, who had an average of 8.62 ± 6.55 weeks until delivery. No treatment was given to the 16 pregnant women chosen as control group. In the hematologic parameters measured during delivery a significant increase of serum ferritin in experiment group, compared to the level measured in pretratment, was found insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p 0.05);. The average serum ferritin level of the`new born babies of experiment group was found higher than the new born babies of the control group insert ignore into journalissuearticles values( p 0.05);. Denek grubu¬nun yeni doğan bebeklerinde, serum ferritin düzeyi ortalaması, kontrol grubunun bebeklerinin serum ferritin düzeyi ortalama¬sından daha yüksek bulundu insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p <0.001);.
