Abstract :SUMMARY EFFECT OF NITRENDIPINE ON LEFT VENTRICULAR FUNCTION IN PATIENTS WITH MILD TO insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(VIODERATE ESSENTIAL HYPERTENSION The effects of 20 mg/day oral Nitrendipine on blood pressure, systolic insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(ejection fraction insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(EF);, fiber shortening velocity insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Vcf);, contraction time insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Kont.Z. );); and diastolic insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(relaxation time insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Rel.Z.); ); functions of the left ventricle, left ventricular mass insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(MASS); and posterior wall thickness in mild to moderate hypertension were evaluated. The study was carried out on 21 patients with uncomplicated mild to moderate hypertension for a period of four weeks and 10 normal subjects were taken as controls. Blood pressures were measured in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th weeks, and M-mode echocardiographi c studies were performed before and after the 4th week of treatment. Statistically significant decreases were found in systolic insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(19 %); and diastolic insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(17 %); blood pressures. At the end of the study it has been found that Nitrendipine had a effect on systolic, diastolic functions and hypertrophy of left ventricle but it has been concluded that this effect was meaningless statistically. ÖZET Hafif ve orta dereceli hipertansiyonda orai 4 hafta verilen 20 mg Nitrendipinin kan basıncı, kalbin sistolik fonksiyonları insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(EF, Vcf, Kont. Z. );, diyastolik fonksiyonları insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Rel.Z.);, MASS ve SVADK üzerine etkisi araştırıldı. Kontrol grubu olarak 10 normal birey alındı. Çalışma grubuna ise hafif ve orta dereceli esansiyel hipertansiyonlu 21 olgu alındı. Tüm kontrol grubuna ve 15 hastaya tedavi öncesi ve tedavinin 4. haftası sonunda ekokardiyografik çalışma yapıldı. Kan basınçları tedavinin 1., 2. ve 4. haftası sonunda ölçüldü. Hipertansif hasta grubunda sistolik kan basınçlarında % 19, diyastolik kan basınçlarında % 17 oranında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir azalma gözlendi. Nabızda ise anlamlı bir değişiklik olmadı. Yapılan ekokardiyografik çalışmalarda tedavi öncesi ve sonrasında anlamlı bir farklılık saptanmadı. Meydana gelen yan etkiler geçici olup bir hasta dışında tedaviyi kesmeyi gerektirmedi. Sonuçta hafif ve orta dereceli hipertansiyonda Nitrendipinin sol ventrikül hipertrofisi, sol ventrikul sistolik ve diyastolik fonksiyonları üzerine olan etkisinin istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı olmadığı sonucuna varıldı.
