Abstract :MANAGEMENT OF HUMERAL SHAFT FRACTURES IN ADULTS insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(A comparative study in methods of treatment); ✓ During 5 years period, 51 humeral shaft fractures were treated in 48 patients. 18 fractures had operative reduction and internal fixation, 33 patients treated with closed methods. The ages ranged from 17 to 60 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(mean, 33); years. 9 fractures were in the proximal third of the shaft; 20, in the middle third; and 22, in the distal third. Closed treatment in 33 fractures resulted in 2 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values( 6 %); nonunions, 18 operative reduction and internal fixations resulted in 2 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(11 %); nonunions. 51 humeral shaft fractures were associated with 6 radial palsies for on over-all rate of 12 percent. The distal third of the humerus was the most common location for fractures producing radial nerve palsy and nonunion. There were no wound infections in patients. These findings show that; closed treatment remains the method of choise for most fractures of the humeral shaft, ac-ceptable results can be achieved with open reduction and internal fixation. 5 yıllık dönem içinde 48 hastanın 51 humerus kırığı tedavi edildi. 18 kırığa açık redüksiyon ve internal tespit yapıldı. 33 hasta konservatif tedavi edildi. Hastaların yaşlan 17-60 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Ortalama 33); yıldı. Kınkların; 9`u humerus cisminin 1/3 proksimalinde, 20`si 1/3 orta kısmında, 22`si 1/3 distal kısmında idi. Nonunion; konservatif tedavi sonrası 2insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(% 6); kırıkta, cerrahi tedavi sonrası 2insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(%11); kırıkta tespit edildi. 51 humerus cisim kırığında 6 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(% 12); radial sinir lezyonu görüldü. Nonunion ve radial sinir lezyonu en sık humerus cisminin 1/3 distal kırıklarından sonra ortaya çıktı. Tedavi sonrası yara infeksiyonu tespit edilmedi. Bu bulgular; humerus cisim kınklarının tedavisinde en seçkin metodun konservatif olduğunu, fakat cerrahi tedavi ile de çok başarılı sonuçlar alınabileceğini gösterdi.
