Abstract :Current Status of Pain and Its Management %/ Despite the tremendous advances in the field of pain control, there are still déficiences concerning mainly the information about pain and its mechanisms; the use of present in-formation and treatment modalities; the problems of communication in exchanging infor-mation and experience. In this article the development of pain management and organisa-tional advances taken place in the World as well as in Turkey during last two decades are reviewed briefly. %/ Önemli gelişmeler sağlanmasına karşın ağrı kontrolü, ağrı ve mekanizmaları hakkında bil-gilerimizde büyük boşluklar olması; mevcut bilgi ve tedavilerin yetersiz ve uygun olmayan şekilde kullanılması ve iletişim sorunları gibi nedenlerle yeterli olmamakladır. Bu yazıda ağrı kontrol yöntemlerinin gelişim süreci: bugünkü durumu, ağrı fizyoloji ve kontrolünün geliştirilmesi için dünyada ve Türkiye`deki örgütlü çalışma ve gelişmelere değinildi.
