Abstract :ABSTRACT Although the spontaneous resolution of herniated nucleus pulposus is a well known phe¬nomenon in lumbar disc herniations, it is rarely encountered in the cervical region. The spontaneous resolution of a herniated cervical disc in a woman is reported to describe a rare occurrence of spontaneous regression of a cervical herniated nucleus pulposus and to discuss its mechanism. A woman with a large and fragment herniated cervical disc refused to undergo operation and was followed-up for 1,5 months. In control magnetic resonance imaging of the cervical spine revealed a complete regression of the herni¬ated disc material. Her symtoms were also alleviated. In large and fragment cervical disc herniations without severe myelopathy symptoms, potential for spontaneous regression should be considered. J. Exp. Clin. Med., 2011; 28:124-126
