Synthesis and structural and electrochemical characterization of novel macrocyclic vic-dioxime ligand and its mononuclear transition and nontransition metal complexes

Abstract :The reaction of N-insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(4-aminophenyl);aza-15-crown-5 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(1); with anti-chlorophenylglyoxime insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(2); produces a novel azacrown ether containing vic-dioxime, N-insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(4-aminophenyl);aza-15-crown-5-phenylglyoxime insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(LH2);. LH2 reacts with Niinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II);, Cuinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II);, Coinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II);, Cdinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II);, and Zninsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II); ions to yield the mononuclear transition and nontransition metal complexes [Minsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(LH);2] insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(M = Ni and Cu);, [Minsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(LH);2insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(H2O);2] insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(M = Co);, and [Minsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(LH);insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(H2O);insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Cl);] insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(M = Cd and Zn);. The structural features of LH2 were studied using several techniques including elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(FT-IR);, ultraviolet visible insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(UV-Vis);, mass spectrometry insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(MS);, 1-dimensional insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(1D); 1H-NMR and 13CNMR, distortionless enhancement by polarization transfer insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(DEPT); 2-dimensional insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(2D); heteronuclear single-quantum coherence insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(HSQC);, and heteronuclear multiple-bond correlation insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(HMBC); techniques. The structures of the complexes were confirmed by elemental analyses and with the use of magnetic susceptibility measurements, MS, UV-Vis, FT-IR, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR techniques. The redox behaviors of the ligand and its complexes were verified with cyclic voltammetry insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(CV); at a glassy carbon insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(GC); electrode in 0.1 M tetrabutylammoniumtetrafluoroborate insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(TBATFB); in dimethyl sulfoxide insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(DMSO);.
