Abstract :Phytochemical investigations on the most active EtOAc extract led to the isolation of 9 flavonoids [quercetin insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(1);, quercetin 3-O-b-glucopyranoside insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(2);, quercetin 3-O-b-galactopyranoside insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(3);, quercetin 3-O-insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(2``-O-galloyl);-b-glucopyranoside insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(4);, quercetin 3-O-insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(2``-O-galloyl);-b-galactopyranoside insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(5);, quercetin 3-O-insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(6``-O-galloyl);-b-glucopyranoside insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(6);, quercetin 3-O-insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(6``-O-galloyl);-b-galactopyranoside insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(7);, quercetin-3-O-a -arabinofuranoside insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(8);, and quercetin-3-O-a-rhamnopyranosyl-insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(1\to 6);-b-glucopyranoside insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(9);] and a simple phenolic compound insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(methyl gallate); insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(10);. The structures of the compounds were elucidated by 1- and 2-dimensional NMR techniques insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(1H, 13C, COSY, HMBC, and HMQC); and ESI-TOF-MS spectrometry. H2O2-induced lipid peroxidation inhibitor effects in human red blood cells of different extracts of G. tuberosum L. subsp. tuberosum aerial parts were also investigated. All the compounds tested showed antioxidant activity.
