Abstract :The paper presents an adaptive parametric study on mesh refinement during adaptive finite element analysis of sheet forming operations. The selected adaptivity parameters for the study are field variable recovery, refinement techniques, and accuracy limit. Influences of parameters on performance of adaptive procedure have been studied by simulating the sheet stretching operation. The post-processing and refinement techniques used in the adaptive analysis are discussed. The adaptively refined meshes for various adaptive parameters at different stages of deformations and CPU times are studied and discussed.
