Abstract :The elastic-plastic deformation of a tube with free ends subjected to uniform internal energy generation is evaluated using Tresca`s yield condition and the associated flow rule. Yielding starts at the outer boundary and later another plastic region develops at the center, both of them corresponding to an `edge regime` of Tresca`s prism. The expansion of the plastic regions with increasing thermal load and the distribution of stresses and plastic strains are displayed graphically and discussed.Keywords : Elastic plastic, Thermal stresses, Internal energy, Tube
