Identification and Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Staphylococcus aureus and Coagulase Negative Staphylococci from Bovine Mastitis in the Aydın Region of Turkey

Abstract :Three hundred bovine milk samples with mastitis were used. Eighty-five insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(28.33%); strains were identified as Staphylococcus aureus whereas 60 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(20.00%); strains were isolated as coagulase negative staphylococcus. Bacteriological cultures of coagulase negative staphylococcus were identified as 20 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(33.33%); strains of S. hyicus, 16 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(26.66%); strains of S. chromogenes, 9 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(15.00%); strains of S. epidermidis, 5 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(8.33%); strains of S. haemolyticus, 4 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(6.66%); strains of S. sciuri, 3 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(5.00%); strains of S. lentis and 3 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(5.00%); strains of S. cohnii subsp. cohnii. The antibiotic susceptibility test results showed that Staphylococcus aureus strains were susceptible to ciprofloxacin insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(100.00%);, neomycin + bacitracin + tetracycline insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(100.00%);, kanamycin insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(85.00%);, cefquinome insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(85.00%); and amoxycillin + clavulanic acid insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(84.00%);, while they were resistant to penicillin insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(95.00%); and oxacillin insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(60.00%);. Beside this, it has been found that the coagulase negative staphylococcus strains were susceptible to cefquinome insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(100.00%); and neomycin + bacitracin + tetracycline insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(100.00%);, but resistant to penicillin insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(90.00%); and oxacillin insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(73.00%);.
