About Presence of Urocythereis britannica Athersuch in İzmit Bay (NW Turkey) in Pleistocene

Abstract :In this study, 164 samples that were collected by drilling from one on land and eight in the sea were investigated in İzmit Bay. Ostracod species were observed in 126 samples and only in 31 of these samples, Urocythereis britannica Athersuch was present. The evaluations of the species, age by electron spin resonance technique showed that Urocythereis britannica Athersuch reached İzmit Bay and Marmara Sea through the Agean Sea towards the end of Lower Pleistocene.
