Abstract :Phacoemulsification is the most preferred method in both dogs and cats due to its minimal invasiveness and high success rate. However, alternative techniques such as ECCE and ICCE are also used for specific indications. Surgical success rates exceed 80% in dogs, while in cats, positive results exceeding 90% have been reported, especially in congenital and juvenile cases. The most common postoperative complications include posterior capsule opacification, glaucoma, retinal detachment, and lens-induced uveitis. In conclusion, cataract surgery ensures the successful restoration of visual function with appropriate patient selection and effective postoperative care. This review comprehensively addresses the surgical treatment of cataracts in dogs and cats, aiming to provide up-to-date literature-based information on the techniques used, success rates, and potential complications. Keywords : Katarakt, köpek, kedi, fakoemülsifikasyon, cerrahi başarı, komplikasyon
