Abstract :This article examines the regional cooperation and security issues in Central Asia in the framework of New Regionalism and Liberal Institutionalism theories. The aim of this article is to determine Kazakhstan’s role in strengthening cooperation in the context of Central Asian regional cooperation and security issues. Central Asian regional cooperation and security problems and Kazakhstan’s initiatives with regard to these topics have also been discussed. Moreover, this study emphasizes the important factors of cultural, psychological and communicative closeness of Central Asian states, which are necessary for strengthening the integration and determining common interests.
