Abstract :Ships carry fuel, batteries, propane, alcohol, wood, plastic, fabric, etc. When these materials burn, special types of fire extinguishers are required to suppress the fire. This study includes fire extinguishing systems used in the maritime industry, the area of use, and the application of two fire extinguishing systems. Using different fire extinguishing systems, developments, and the systems that can be directed in the future are also described. Water-based- sprinkler, gas-based, foam-based and powder-based systems have been studied and some regulations have been reviewed for the prevention of sea and yacht fires and their impact on safety.
