Abstract :This study examines the potential for dark tourism in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. In addition to its historical, cultural, and natural riches, Nagorno-Karabakh’s long years of wars, conflicts, and tragedies have made it a significant dark tourism destination for both locals and international tourists. Accordingly, this study evaluates the region’s dark tourism potential in terms of its battlefields, ruins, and cemeteries. The findings highlight Nagorno-Karabakh’s potential in different types of dark tourism. Given the high ideological and political influence dating back to the 1830s, Nagorno-Karabakh exemplifies the darkest level on the spectrum. There was both an acute political influence and the Dark Camps of Genocide, in terms of dark tourism types. Also, the region can be categorized under battlefield and cemetery tourism. In addition, it is suggested that the region’s tourism infrastructure should be developed, while promotional activities should be increased. Nagorno-Karabakh’s historical and cultural heritage constitutes a significant part of the region’s tourism potential to contribute economically to Azerbaijan, particularly as an alternative tourism area. Therefore, Azerbaijan can use its rich historical heritage as a tourism product to replace its oil export-based economy and protect itself from the adverse effects of tourism, such as seasonality. Keywords : Turizm, Hüzün Turizmi, Savaş Alanı Turizmi, Mezarlık Turizmi, Dağlık-Karabağ
