Abstract :Özet: Yeniay ve Çamburnu’nda tekne imalâtı, yıllardır devam eden geleneksel bir faaliyet olarak önemini korumaktadır. Başlangıçta çevreden temin edilen ahşap malzeme kullanılırken, 1970’li yıllardan sonra üretimde sac levhalar kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Günümüz koşullarına göre ilkel sayılabilecek şartlarda sürdürülen imalât, daha çok usta-çırak ilişkisine dayanmaktadır. Ancak usta işgücünün ortaya koyduğu kaliteli işçilik oldukça dikkat çekicidir.   Sürmene ilçesi sınırları içerisindeki Yeniay ve Çamburnu kasabaları, Trabzon’a 47-48 km kadar uzaklıktadır. Yaklaşık 141 kişinin istihdam edildiği tersaneler sahasında, 7 tekne imalât atölyesi bulunmaktadır. Burada 7-80 m uzunluklarında 1000 dwt’a kadar teknelerin inşa, bakım ve onarımı yapılmaktadır. Zaman zaman yurtdışına pazarlama yapılsa da, teknik yetersizlikler nedeniyle, büyük çaplı talepler karşılanamamaktadır. Bu çalışmada Yeniay ve Çamburnu’ndaki tersanelerin başlıca özelliklerine değinilerek, yapımı plânlanan modern Yeniçam Tersane Projesi üzerinde de durulmuştur. Anahtar Kelimeler: Tersane, Geleneksel, Tekne İmalâtı                   Abstract   Boat building has kept its importance as a traditional construction in Yeniay and Çamburnu. At the beginning the wooden material obtained in the area was used; however, after the 1970s the iron plates started to be used. The production which could be defined as autdated in today’s terms is mostly carried on a system of master and apprentice. Yet the quality of masters’ work is worthy of attention. Yeniay and Çamburnu towns, located   within the borders of Sürmene are 47-48 km away from Trabzon. There are 7 boat building workshop in the dockyards where 141 workers are employed. Here the production and maintenance of boats with 7-80 meters and 1000 dwt. Although there is also a production and for export, this requirement cannot be met due to technical inefficiencies. This article is on the principal characteristics of the boat building workshops and the planned modern Yeniçam Dockyards Project.                                     Key Words: Dockyards, Traditional, Boat Buildin
