Abstract :In this study, the flora of Kaz Lake and its surroundings was investigated. As a result of fieldwork conducted in the Kaz Lake region during 2021–2022, approximately 520 plant specimens were collected. Based on the identification of these specimens, 218 taxa belonging to 44 families and 157 genera were determined. Among these, 1 taxon belongs to Pteridophyta and 217 to Spermatophyta. All members of Spermatophyta identified in the area belong to the subdivision Angiospermae. Of the angiosperms, 27 taxa (11.44%) are classified under Monocotyledoneae, and 190 taxa (87.1%) under Dicotyledoneae. Among the collected specimens, 20 taxa (9.21%) are endemic and 1 is considered rare. The distribution of threat categories among the taxa is as follows; 18 taxa are classified as Least Concern (LC), 1 taxon as Endangered (EN), and 1 taxon as Vulnerable (VU). The rare taxon is also listed under the Vulnerable (VU) category. The ten families with the highest number of taxa are: Asteraceae 40 (18.34%), Fabaceae 27 (12.38%), Lamiaceae 17 (7.8%), Brassicaceae 14 (6.42%), Caryophyllaceae 10 (4.58%), Poaceae 10 (4.58%), Apiaceae 8 (3.7%), Ranunculaceae 7 (3.21%), Boraginaceae 6 (2.75%), and Plantaginaceae 6 (2.75%). The phytogeographical distribution of the taxa identified in the study area is as follows: 68 taxa (31.34%) belong to the Irano-Turanian region, 23 taxa (10.6%) to the Euro-Siberian region, and 8 taxa (3.71%) to the Mediterranean region. The remaining 119 taxa (54.37%) are either widespread or of unknown phytogeographical origin. Keywords: Kaz Lake, Sivas, FloraKeywords : Kaz Gölü, Sivas, Flora
