Abstract :İLKOKUL DÖRDÜNCÜ SINIF ÖĞRENCİLERİNE VERİLEN ATIK YÖNETİMİ EĞİTİMİNİN ETKİNLİĞİNİN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ Amaç:   Endüstrileşme süreci toplum tarafından açığa çıkarılan atıkların miktarının artmasına neden olmuş ve günümüzde önemli bir sorun haline gelmiştir. İlköğretimde çağında verilen eğitim ile çevre bilinci geliştirilebileceği öngörülmektedir. Bu çalışma okul çağı çocuklarına verilen atık yönetimi eğitiminin etkinliğinin değerlendirilmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem:   Araştırma yarı-deneysel olarak İzmir İli Buca ilçesine bağlı bir ilkokulda Nisan-Haziran 2015 tarihleri arasında yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın örneklemi   113 ilkokul 4. Sınıf öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır.   Veriler “Öğrenci Tanıtım Anket Formu” ,    “Ön Test -Son Test Formu”   ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde sayı yüzde dağılımı, paired sample t test, independent t test, varyans analizi, Mann Whitney U test kullanılmıştır. Bulgular:   Çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerinin %89.4’ü 9-10 yaş aralığında ve    %51.3’ü erkektir. Öğrencilerin %90.3’ ünün çevre ve atık konusunda daha önce eğitim aldığı,   %72.6’sının   okulunda atık ve çevreye yönelik herhangi bir faaliyette bulunduğu, %86.7’sinin   ev ortamında çöp ve atıkların ayrıştırılmasına dikkat ettiği saptanmıştır.   Öğrencilerin eğitim öncesi ve sonrası atık bilgi puanları karşılaştırıldığında öğrencilerin ön-test puan ortalaması   ile   son-test puan ortalaması   arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır (   t=   -1.324; p=0.188). Şubelerin ön test ve son test puan ortalamaları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur (X²:59,231, p<0.05). Kadın ve erkek öğrencilerin ön test puanları (U:1230.000, p<0.05) arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunurken son test puanları (U:1469.500, p>0.05) arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır. Öğrencilerin çöp ve atıkların ayrıştırılmasına dikkat etme durumlarına göre ön test puanları (U:447.000, p<0.05) arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunurken, son test puanları (U:686.500, p>0.05) arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır. Sonuç :   Çevre eğitiminin ilkokul düzeyinde öğrencilerin geri dönüşüm ile ilgili bilgilerinin ve yaptıkları geri dönüşüm davranışlarının, çevre duyarlı davranışların şekillenmesinde önemli olduğu ve eğitiminin, alanında uzman kişilerce, multidisipliner yaklaşımın yanında ayrıca bir ders olarak da verilmesinin başarıyı arttırmada daha etkili olacağı düşünülmektedir. Anahtar Kelimeler:   Atık Yönetimi,   Çevre Duyarlılığı, Eğitim Etkinlikleri, İlkokul Öğrencileri       THE INVESTIGATION OF EFFECTIVENESS OF WASTE MANAGEMENT EDUCATION ON PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS Objective: The industrialization process has led to increase in the amount of wastes released by society and also it has become important problem today. It is envisaged that environmental awareness can be developed with the education given in the era of primary education. This research was carried out in order to evaluate the efficacy of waste management education given to school children. Material and Methods: The study was conducted semi-experimentally between April and June 2015 in a primary school attached to the İzmir district of Buca. The sample of the research consists of 113 4th grade elementary school students. Data was collected by ''Student identification Survey Form'' ''Pre-Test-Post Test Form''. In the analysis of the data, number distribution, paired sample t test, independent t test, variance analysis, Mann Whitney U test were used. Results: 89.4% of the students participating in the study were in the age range of 9-10 years and 51.3% were male. It was determined that 90.3% of the students were educated about environment and waste, 72.6% of them had any activities related to waste and environment in their school, and 86.7% were careful to sort out garbage and waste at home environment. There was no statistically significant difference between pre-test point average and post-test point average of the students before and after training (t = -1.324, p = 0.188). A statistically significant difference was found between the pretest and posttest averages of the class (X²: 59,231, p <0.05).It determined a statistically significant difference between woman and man students’ pretest scores (U:1230.000, p<0.05), the difference between posttests’ was not significant (U:1469.500, p>0.05). A statistically significant difference in pretest scores between students attitudes towards waste parsing (U:447.000, p<0.05), but the difference between posttest’ was not significant (U:686.500, p>0.05). Conclusion: It is believed that environmental education is important on primary school students’ environment sensitive attitudes structuring with knowledge and practice of recycling. and, education which perform from professionals as separated lectures with multidisciplinary   approach can be more effective on success.   Key Words: Waste Management,    Environmental Awareness , Educational Activities, Primary School Students
