Abstract :Bu araştırmada Alman edebiyatının ünlü yazarlarından Wolfgang Borchert\' in „An diesem Dienstag“ adlı romanında üstü örtük ifadelerin (deyimlerin) Türkçeye nasıl aktarıldığı üzerinde duruldu. Yazınsal metinlerin estetik ve sanatsal değerinin öne çıkmasında adı geçen ifadeler son derecede önemli rol oynamaktadır. Bu açıdan bu ifadelerin hedef dile aktarılırken, o dildeki eş değer bir ifadeyle çevrilmesi gerekir. Üstü örtük ifadeler bir kültüre özgü dilsel öğeler olduğundan, çevirmen kimi zaman bunların aktarılmasında zorlanmakta ve orijinal metnin sanatsal ve estetik değerinin yitirilmesine neden olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada sözü edilen ifadelerin aktarımında çevirmenin tutumu, onun çeviri anlayışı nesnel bir eleştiri y&oumThis study focused on how implicit expressions (idioms) used in the novel entitled “An Diesem Dienstag” by Wolfgang Borchert, one of the most renowned writers of German literature, are trasferred to the Turkish language. Such expressions are extremely important in that they bring forth the ästhetic and artistic value of literary texts. For this reason, these expressions need to be translated into appropriate corresponding expressions in the target language. Implicit expressions are culture-bound; for this reason a translator may face difficulties when he is transferring them to the target language a factor which may cause some of the artistic and ästhetic value of the original text to be lost.
