Abstract :Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between physical activity and pain levels in older adults and to evaluate the impact of sociodemographic characteristics and physical activity on geriatric pain. Materials and Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted using the Demographic Information Form, Standardized Mini-Mental Test (SMMT), Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly (PASE), Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS), and the Geriatric Pain Measure (GPM). The study was carried out between May and June 2025 with individuals aged 65 and over (n=495) living in a western province of Turkey. The STROBE checklist was used for reporting. Results: The mean score on the PASE was found to be low (104.48±67.84). It was determined that 65.1% of participants did not engage in regular physical exercise. The mean score on the GPM was 47.66±12.44, indicating a moderate level of pain. Of the participants, 36% reported experiencing pain for the past 1-6 months, while 33.3% stated that the pain had lasted less than one month. The average pain intensity was also moderate (3.92±1.96). No significant correlation was found between the GPM and the PASE (r=0.035). Conclusion: The results revealed that older adults had low levels of physical activity and the majority did not engage in regular exercise. No significant relationship was found between experienced pain and physical activity levels. To ensure effective pain management and promote an active lifestyle among older adults, it is essential to address the individual and environmental factors contributing to physical inactivity.
