Abstract :The present study was conducted in descriptive and cross-sectional design to determine the demographic characteristics of mothers of 0-12 months old infants with colic and the effects of their approaches to the baby on colic. The study was conducted with infants who were aged 0-12 months with colic and with their mothers. The data was obtained by face-to-face interview techniques using the Parent-Infant Information Form and the Infant Colic Scale (ICS). The t-test and One-Way Anova Test were used as statistical analysis. It was determined in the present study that the mean total score of the infant colic scale was 55.9±12.0, 56.7% of the mothers stopped eating some foods because they could cause colic pain in the baby. 89.0% of mothers who quit these foods in their meals stated that their babies had a decrease in colic pain. Behavioral methods applied to reduce colic were determined to be 88.9% burping the baby, 81.7% cuddling, 79.8% cuddling and swinging the baby, and 65.8% abdominal massage. The foods and beverages quit by the mothers during this period were 40.6% legumes, 26.2% coffee, and 14.4% spices. There is no direct treatment for colic, but it should not be ignored that the negative impacts of colic on both the baby and the parents can be alleviated by using behavioral methods. Keywords : bebek, infantil kolik, hemşirelik
