Abstract :Özet Metaforlar}.D kognitif bir içeriğe sahip olup olmadıklan sorusu, esasında modern bir problemdir ve özellikle yirminci yüzyılın son yarısında felsefenin alanına dahil olmu§tur. Bu soru, temelde felsefenin dilinin ve neliğinin; rctorik, din ve §iir diliyle olan ili§kilcri bağlamında sorgulanarak yeniden tanımlanmasıyla alakalıdır. Felsefenin kendini retorik ve §iirden ayırması ve zaman zaman da bunlarla çatl§maya girmesi, sonraki dönemlerde dinin, kullandığı dil itibariyle retorik ve §iitin yerini almasıyla yeni bir boyut kazanml§tır. Zira retorik ve §iir dilinin en önemli ortak unsuru olan metaforlar, aynı zamanda din dilinin de temelinde yer alırlar. Bu çall§ma, İslam felsefesinin üç etkili siması olan Farabi, İbn Sina ve İbn Rü§d`de metaforların nasıl bir yapıda olduklarını ara§tırırken, kognitif içeriklerini de §iir, retorik ve felsefe dilleri açısından incelerneyi amaçlamaktadır. Abstract Whether metaphors have cognitive contents is mainly a relatively recent problem and was included in the realm of the philosophy especially in the second half of the twentieth century. This problem is mainly based on the redeline of the philosophy in the light studying of language and content of philosophy in the context of rhetoric, religion and poetical language. lt is in teresring to observe that the philosophy keeps hirnself apart from rhetoric and poetry and gets sometimes conflict with both of them. On the other hand the religion takes place of rhetoric and poetry afteryears in the context of religious language for metaphors which are common elemen ts ofboth rhetoric and poetic language are very fundamental elemen ts of the language of religion at the same time. This pa per studies in which ways metaphors are used in the works of Farabi, İbn Sina and İbn Rü§d, and airns to view the cognitive conrents of metaphors in the light of poetry, rhetoric and religious language.
